Rolling bearing operating status identification:
Demodulation spectrum, as a measurement parameter for early fault indication, combined with velocity spectrum, is key to determining bearing faults. The development process of rolling bearing faults can be divided into four stages:
(1) No bearing fault frequency, good condition, continue monitoring as a baseline;
(2) Fault frequency exists only in the demodulation spectrum, early fault indication, or lubrication required;
(3) Spectral peaks exist in both spectra, plan to replace the bearing during the next maintenance;
(4) Peaks exist only in the normal spectrum, and noise levels increase in the demodulation spectrum, replace immediately.

The characteristics of the bearings at each stage are described below:

Phase 1: (1) Noise is normal; (2) Temperature is normal; (3) Ultrasonic, vibration demodulation spectrum, and acoustic emission measurements exceed standards, indicating a defect in the bearing outer ring; (4) Total vibration is small, with no discrete bearing fault frequency spikes; (5) Remaining bearing life is greater than 10% of the value specified in B-10.
Phase 2: (1) Noise slightly increases; (2) Temperature is normal; (3) Ultrasonic, vibration demodulation spectrum, and acoustic emission measurements significantly increase, indicating a defect in the bearing outer ring; (4) Vibration increment slightly increases (total vibration acceleration and total vibration velocity); (5) Bearing fault frequencies are clearly visible on the logarithmic scale spectrum, but difficult to see on the linear scale spectrum, indicating a significant increase in noise; (6) Remaining bearing life is greater than 5% of the value specified in B-10.
Phase 3: (1) Noise is audible; (2) Temperature rises slightly; (3) Very high ultrasonic, acoustic emission, and demodulation spectrum passband values; (4) Total vibration acceleration and total vibration velocity increase significantly; (5) Bearing fault frequencies, their harmonic frequencies, and sideband frequencies are clearly visible on the linear scale spectrum; (6) The noise level of the vibration spectrum increases significantly; (7) The remaining bearing life is greater than 1% as specified in B-10.
Phase 4: (1) Noise intensity changes; (2) Temperature rises significantly; (3) Ultrasonic, acoustic emission, and vibration demodulation spectrum passband values increase rapidly and then gradually decrease, indicating the bearing outer ring is in a fault state prior to damage; (4) Total vibration velocity and total vibration displacement increase significantly, while total vibration acceleration decreases; (5) Lower-frequency bearing fault frequency spikes dominate, and the noise level in the vibration spectrum is greater than 0.2% of the remaining life as specified in B-10.
