Intelligent bearings represent a recent development in bearing products. An intelligent bearing integrates various sensors and control devices for different purposes into a unique structural unit based on a traditional bearing. This allows for real-time online monitoring and control of the bearing's operating status using information processing and automatic control technologies. A typical intelligent bearing system consists of an improved bearing body and related accessories, miniature sensors embedded in the bearing body or accessories, processing and transmission circuits (dedicated chips), a data acquisition card, and signal processing and analysis software. It enables intelligent processing of information such as bearing self-diagnosis, self-evaluation, and lifespan prediction, and achieves bearing performance regulation through control devices.

 

As a key component in mechanical equipment, the condition of bearings directly affects the operating status and performance of the equipment. Monitoring and fault warning of bearings, especially in the main shaft systems of large electromechanical equipment and high-speed vehicles, has become an important research area in high-end bearing technology. With increasing technological demands, modern precision, high-speed, and high-reliability operating equipment places increasingly stringent requirements on bearing performance. The motion mechanisms or systems of some advanced equipment urgently need to utilize signals and data collected by intelligent bearings to control specific control units, achieving precise, high-speed, high-reliability, and low-noise operation and status control, predicting operational and status trends, and preventing significant personal and economic losses caused by sudden system malfunctions. Bearings are the joints of machinery; intelligent bearings are like adding a nervous system to these joints, enhancing their sensing capabilities. Therefore, developing intelligent bearing technology and creating online bearing operation status monitoring and fault early warning systems is one of the current development trends in bearing fault diagnosis technology.
