Q: Performance characteristics of thrust ball bearings.
A: Thrust ball bearings are separable, as shown in the figure below. Its main performance characteristics are as follows:
1. The contact angle of the bearing is 90°, and it can only bear axial load. One-way thrust ball bearings can only bear axial load in one direction, and two-way thrust ball bearings can bear axial load in two directions;
2. The steel balls are squeezed to the outside of the raceway due to centrifugal force, which is easy to be scratched and not suitable for high-speed operation;
3. Thrust ball bearings with spherical seat rings have the ability to align the outside of the bearing, which can eliminate the influence of installation errors.
Thrust ball bearings are mainly used in vertical lathe rotary tables, machine tool spindles and automobile steering mechanisms.
