Q: Surface quality requirements for turning of bearing rings.
A: Since turning is an intermediate link in the manufacturing of rings, the production levels of various manufacturers are different, the processing capabilities of each processing stage are different, and the precision grades of the produced bearings are different. Therefore, there is no unified quantitative standard for the technical conditions of the turning processing stage in the bearing industry. The requirements for surface quality are generally:
1. The surface that does not need to be ground after quenching should have a roughness that meets the enterprise standard.
2. The surface that needs to be ground after quenching has a roughness value of R=2.5~5 μm, and the surface roughness after the inner diameter is full-hole Ra<1.25 μm (when the inner diameter d≥10mm, Ra<2.5 μm).
3. The following conditions are not allowed on the surface after turning: forging marks (black skin, cracks and others); burrs, sharp angles, depressions, protrusions, and scratches; surface wrinkles (turning tool vibration marks, 203 pits); deep scratches and material defects.
4. The following conditions are not allowed on the surface after soft grinding: the scratch depth of the non-reference end surface shall not exceed 1/3 of the total reserve; the scratch depth of the reference end surface shall not exceed 1/4; the surface that is not ground after quenching should not have any abrasions; the surface should not have visible burns, bumps and other mechanical operations.
5. The printing quality of the ring must meet the requirements of national and professional standards.
